Decorative and appealing, a matched pair of genuine antique Edwardian bedsteads. These superior quality beds, classically Queen Anne revival in style, offer amazing value and huge decorative appeal. Whether employed in one’s smartly appointed spare room or in the master bedroom for a couple who value the quality of sleep that having single beds can bring, their inclusion cannot fail to add greatly to a bedroom’s appeal.
Styled during the continuation of the Edwardian era, thus carrying its aesthetic values, these bedsteads were made circa 1930. Quality is high courtesy of their carved walnut posts and walnut veneered panels. The bedsteads are also appointed with the excellent and highly reliable VONO system of cast iron brackets to the head and foot ends. In turn, these are linked by strong bolt-on 3 x 45 x 45mm high carbon steel angle iron. It should be noted that much of VONO’s production of bed irons was derived from re-rolled tram-line, hence its being ‘high-carbon’ steel and thus not prone to bending (in normal use!).

Finish / Finishes:
Show Wood Frame: Currently standing unrestored in photos, for the cost price stated, we will firstly address any necessary repairs, knocks, or shakes in our cabinet maker’s workshops. Next, a deep clean with Libnet PPC follows. Re-polishing via the traditional French Polishing ‘Rubber’ process is followed by a final cutback and ‘Hard Wax’ applied by hand to achieve an authentic period lustre. For an additional charge, this bedstead can be hand-painted or gilded to suit a customer’s scheme.
Upholstery: Currently standing unrestored in photos, for the cost price stated, the existing upholstery will be stripped back, and the original upholstery fillings layer evaluated, reworked, or replaced as required. Upon this rejuvenated foundation, we re-upholster in one of our ‘no-cost option’ house fabrics, or we can supply most luxury design-led upholstery fabrics at an additional cost. We can also re-upholster in your own free-issue COM (customer’s own material). There is a further, very broad selection of trims to finish a scheme; these include braids, gimps, piping (both self and contrasting in nature), and close-nailed options. Close nailing would be the ‘no-cost option’ here.
