6ft Victorian Brass Bedstead – Ref. 9721A72

£7,750.00

This important all-brass bedstead, made circa 1870 and attributed to Whitfield Brothers of Birmingham, would make an impressive statement piece for a traditionally themed bedroom. Its newly nickel-plated finish adds a contemporary feel to the overall tradition and presence that fine bedsteads of this ilk never fail to bring to well-executed interior schemes. Not only does it impress with its sheer scale, but its simple yet formal linear nature will bring theatre and majesty to even the largest bedroom. As such, it leaves reproduction copies in its wake, rendering them weak and woefully lacking in both statement and substance.

This bedstead’s roots lie in a fine late Victorian all-brass bedstead, initially fully restored from its original Victorian double size and sympathetically adapted to super king size, all prior to being given the fresh, exclusive, Bright Nickel plate finish it now wears. Expertly recreated in Bed Bazaar’s own workshops by our highly skilled, time-served craftspeople. Quick ship programme.

Mattresses & Bedstead Bases:
The images shown here of bed ref: 9721A72 show this bedstead complete with a combined mattress and bedstead height of 88cm (34”). This is the deepest combined mattress and bedstead base depth that even a statement all brass bedstead such as this one could accommodate. Some may find this too high and need a period ‘bed step’ to get into the bed so it can of course have a shallower base and mattress too if need be. One should be mindful that making a bedstead’s overall mattress height either too high or too low can impact the aesthetic integrity of the overall scheme one is seeking to create. As such we recommend speaking to one of our highly experienced team for further advice on our own Suffolk Journeyman range of mattresses and bedsteads bases.
