Decorative, early Victorian iron bedstead by Peyton & Peyton, with charming aesthetic balance and an intrinsically pleasing form; a trademark of these accomplished bedstead makers. Robust flat, reeded wire centres and featuring boldly cast, fine-quality iron details. Note: with its slowly curved outer main frame, this bedstead would complement the eaves or attic of a period property, such as a country cottage. It would be just as at home, however, in the smaller box rooms that have become so prevalent in more modern homes.
However one employs this sweet little bedstead, it’s sure to win the affections of all those who sleep in it, as well as giving a lifetime of stalwart service.

The images shown here of bed reference BA 9271C27 do not depict this bedstead complete with bedstead base and mattress. However, we would recommend a combined mattress and bedstead height of 20cm (8 inches) for optimal use. A modest Victorian iron bedstead such as this one should accommodate a deeper mattress and base height, but not one that exceeds 25cm (10 inches). One should be mindful that making a bedstead’s overall mattress height either too high or too low can impact the aesthetic integrity of the overall scheme one is seeking to create.
