This delightfully light, decorative mid period Victorian iron bedstead will bring such charm to a cottage bedroom or indeed other smaller bedrooms with similarly lower ceilings . Feature wise, its really noteworthy attributes are the substantial, highly detailed cast iron wheel panels trapped beneath the elegant serpentine round wire gates The gates in turn are clasped with bold, detailed iron joints. Note that the most noteworthy of these are the pierced centre bosses and top joints direct above the cast iron wheels.
As an overall scheme one can simple say, what a charming and highly aesthetically pleasing bedstead design this is. Currently standing fully restored and ready for prompt, word wide delivery from our Framlingham showrooms, this bedstead originally dates from the third quarter of the 20th century, thus made circa 1870. The images shown here of bed ref: 9607C60 show this bedstead complete with a combined mattress and bedstead height of 26.5 cm (10½”). A statement Brass & Iron bedstead such as this one could accommodate a deeper mattress and base height but if this exceeds 30cm (12”). One should be mindful that making a bedstead’s overall mattress height either too high or too low can impact the aesthetic integrity of the overall scheme one is seeking to create.
